SUMMARY:1st Annual "Cheesin' for a Reason"
DESCRIPTION:We’re SO excited to be bringing the grilled cheese & tomato soup festival craze to Winchester this fall! \n\nWATTS will be “Cheesin’ for a Reason” and we hope you’ll come out and join us in honor of one of our guests’ favorite meals.\n  \nDATE: Saturday\, November 8\, 2025\nTIME:  11:00 AM – 5:00 PM (entry times at 11 AM\, 1 PM\, and 3 PM)\nPLACE: Old Town Winchester – enter the downtown walking mall at Rouss Ave. off of N. Cameron Street to check-in and get your wristband\nTICKETS: $20 for adults | $10 for children 12 & under\n  \n  \nTICKETS\n\n  \nYour ticket to Cheesin’ for a Reason includes tastings of this classic\, comfort food (with some flair!) from 15+ restaurants downtown\, voting for your favorites\, live music throughout the day\, kids activities\, shopping and vendors\, and more!  Anticipated to be the next biggest and beloved event in downtown\, enjoy taking in the entire length of the walking mall on a crisp\, fall day to visit the participating restaurants and food trucks for your samples.  There will be a variety of free kids zone activities (included with your ticket purchase\,) a scavenger hunt component\, commemorative t-shirts and merch for sale\, a 50/50 raffle – all the fixin’s to make for a memorable and mouth-watering event that will continue to make an impact for years to come.  A fun day for the whole family and raising funds for a great cause – together we’re breaking the cycle of homelessness one life at a time through our shelter program and vital support services for our guests.  Your support makes a difference in someone’s life – this is ooey-gooey goodness you WON’T want to miss! ♥ \n*Notes:  No tickets will be sold on the day of the event; must be purchased in advance.  You will only be permitted to enter the event at your ticket time\, not before.  Beware of scammers – always be wary of anyone on social media offering to “sell” their tickets; there are no physical/printed tickets for this event.  Only purchase tickets from our event site (linked above.)  If you need to transfer your tickets to another name prior to the event\, please contact us.\n  \n  \nSPONSORSHIPS AVAILABLE!\n\nAdvertise your business or organization at this event!\nClick the Tickets link to find out more or reach out to us today:\nexecdirector@watts-homelessshelter.org\n  \n  \n\n\nWATTS’s mission is to break the cycle of homelessness one life at a time. We empower individuals to re-enter the workforce and connect individuals to the resources needed to be as self-sufficient as possible while providing safe\, temporary shelter during extreme weather.\n\nIn 2009\, a group of faith-based leaders came together when they recognized there was a population of homeless adults in our area who did not qualify for admission to other local shelter programs due to barriers. Realizing these folks would be sleeping outside during the coldest weeks of winter and seeing a solution with their warm church buildings which were empty at night\, WATTS was born as the area’s low-barrier shelter. Since that time\, WATTS has grown and expanded to meet the needs of homeless individuals in Winchester\, Frederick\, and Clarke County. Today\, we provide 21 weeks of overnight shelter from November to March\, along with a daytime Warming Center in the winter\, and a daytime Cooling Center in the summer. We’ve also added our Transition Out of Homelessness Program\, with staff members who work year-round to assist guests in ending their homelessness.\n\nWATTS is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization\, federal tax ID number 27-1325266.  All donations are tax deductible.
