MovieWHITE BIRD: A WONDER STORY

Synopsis:   “From the best-selling author of Wonder, the book that sparked a movement to “choose kind,” comes the inspirational next chapter.  In WHITE BIRD: A WONDER STORY,  we follow Julian (Bryce Gheisar), who has struggled to belong ever since he was expelled from his former school for his treatment of Auggie Pullman.  To transform his life, Julian’s grandmother (Helen Mirren) finally reveals to Julian her own story of courage: during her youth in Nazi-occupied France, a boy shelters her from mortal danger.  They find first love in a stunning, magical world of their own creation, while the boy’s mother (Gillian Anderson) risks everything to keep her safe.  From director Marc Forster (FINDING NEVERLAND, CHRISTOPHER ROBIN), screenwriter Mark Bomback, and based on R.J. Palacio’s book, WHITE BIRD: A WONDER STORY, like WONDER before it, is an uplifting movie about how one act of kindness can live on forever.”  Rated: PG-13.  Run time: 121 min.

*NOTES:

1) Only the Wednesday 10/16/2024 7:00 PM showing of White Bird will benefit WATTS, so make sure to choose that date/time when buying your tickets.
2) If you are planning to participate in the Bruster’s fundraiser as well, make sure to hit that first since Bruster’s will be closed by the time the movie lets out.

WATTS’s mission is to break the cycle of homelessness one life at a time. We empower individuals to re-enter the workforce and connect individuals to the resources needed to be as self-sufficient as possible while providing a safe, temporary shelter during extreme weather.
In 2009, a group of faith-based leaders came together when they recognized there was a population of homeless adults in our area who did not qualify for admission to other local shelter programs due to barriers. Realizing these folks would be sleeping outside during the coldest weeks of winter and seeing a solution with their warm church buildings which were empty at night, WATTS was born as the area’s low-barrier shelter. Since that time, WATTS has grown and expanded to meet the needs of homeless individuals in Winchester, Frederick, and Clarke County. Today, we provide 21 weeks of overnight shelter from November to March, along with a daytime Warming Center in the winter, and a daytime Cooling Center in the summer. We’ve also added our Transition Out of Homelessness Program, with staff members who work year-round to assist guests in ending their homelessness.

WATTS is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, federal tax ID number 27-1325266.  All donations are tax deductible.
